Our History
Generations of progress

1903
D’Amico Family
As Canadians, our family dates back a century starting with four brothers who immigrated to Canada from the small, Southern Italian town of Pietragalla in the province of Potenza. First arrivng in Montreal, after a few twists and turns, they all settled in the Niagara Region. Athough this industrial heartland of Canada offered many employment opportunities in the steel mills, cotton mills, rubber plants and so on, the D’Amico brothers unlike many others, chose self-employment to take fullest advantage of this thriving new land of opportunity. The four brothers – Joe, Rocc, Sam & Tony.

1920
Ice & Coal Business
The four brothers pooled their resources to sell and deliver ice for iceboxes in the summer months and coal for furnaces and stoves in the winter months.
The hard work of transporting by horse and wagon and delivering by hand when elevators were non-existent, proved to be a probitable also a disappearing business once electricity became more acailable and affordable. In the late 1930’s, the brothers started breaking out on thier own and increased their transport and delivery offerings to include bleach, solvents and other household needs.
1984
The Third Generation
In 1984, Joey’s son, Joseph, joined the family trucking business bringing with him the desire to grow the business and move it into the 21st century. With capital hard to come by, in 1988 R&R and Intermetco, Canada’s largest and publicly traded recycling company, formed a joint venture for transportation and logistics services. By the early 1990’s, the fleet grew from a dozen or so power units to more than 100 units with terminals in Port Colborne, Stoney Creek, Markham and the docks in Toronto. Still desiring to grow the company, Joseph continued to add logistics services, industrial services, repairs and tire business, as well as, growing the base transportation services with dumps, luggers, roll offs, tankers and flatbeds. In 1994, the company moved headquarters from Port Colborne to their current location at 1818 Burlington Street in Hamilton, Ontario.
